Students’ evaluation is done through internal and external evaluation
system:

(a) For internal evaluation, the students are required to appear in three house tests during the semester out of which two best will be considered.
(b) Apart from this, the students are required to submit the home assignments also.
(c) The final examination of each semester of Chandigarh Polytechnic will be conducted by Punjab State Board of Technical Education & Industrial Training, Chandigarh. Examination Rules framed by the Board from time to time are binding on the students.
(d) For preparing the final diploma, the following will be the weightage of marks for students admitted through JET
* 25% for I & II Semester.
** 50% for III & IV Semester.
*** 100% for V & VI Semester.
For students admitted in 2nd year directly through Lateral Entry:
*** 50% for 2nd year
*** 100% for 3rd year
(e) After completion of 4th semester the students are sent for Industrial Training for six weeks to make themselves familiar with the world of work.
(f) The curriculum of all the trades is prepared by PSBTE&IT. The details of current curriculum along with study-cum-evaluation scheme of various trades can be seen on the PSBTE&IT
(g) Divisions Assigned are as Follows:
** 1st Division with Hons. above 70% .
** 1st Division above 60% .
** 2nd Division below 60%

(a) Attendance is compulsory in all Theory and Practical classes.
(b) Students who have less than 75% percent aggregate attendance separately for Theory and Practical subjects and 60 percent attendance in each individual subject will not be allowed to sit for the State Board examination.
(c) Relaxation of 5% in aggregate attendance may be granted by the Principal on medical ground to the concerned student who submits a medical certificate within a week of his rejoining the Institution after illness. Certificates issued by the Institute Medical Officer shall be preferable.
(d) If a student is continuously absent for more than 7 days without proper leave, his name is liable to be removed from Polytechnic rolls.

MIGRATION RULES
(a) Migration to and from Chandigarh Polytechnic is permissible in the 3rd and 5th semesters only against vacant seats in the concerned course of study.
(b) Migration to 3rd semester is permissible provided student must have passed all subjects of first and second semester in the first attempt
(c) For migration to 5th semester, the students must have passed all subjects of first, second and third semesters at the time of submission of application.
(d) Only the students who have been studying regularly in the Institutions will be eligible and no migration shall be allowed to the re-admitted students.
(e) On migration from TPC, the Institution shall be entitled to retain the full admission fee. However, all other fees including Student Activities Fund shall be retained only up to the end of the month in which the migration is ordered by the Board.
(f) Any additional fees or funds which may have been collected from the student will be refunded to the student within 15 days of the date on which the student is relieved from the Institution.
(g) The Institution to which the student migrates shall be entitled to charge the full admission fee. However, all other fees including Student Activities Fund will be charged on pro-rata basis from the date on which the student joins the Institution.
(h) Students will have to pay a requisite Fee of Rs 500/- in favour of “The secretary, Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training, Chandigarh”
TRADE CHANGE
Eligibility for Trade change from one course of study to another is permissible under the following conditions:
(a) The students will be allowed to change their trade in the 3rd semester provided the student must have passed all subjects of first and second semester in the first attempt.
(b) Trade change will be permitted only within such groups of courses as are specified by the PSBTE&IT from time to time.
(c) Only those students whose written applications along with requisite fee are received within the stipulated time shall be eligible to be considered for trade change. However, no applicant shall have a claim to be allowed trade change as a matter of right.
(d) For trade change in the 3rd semester only the students who have been studying regularly in the Institution will be eligible and no trade change shall be allowed to the re-admitted students.
(e) Students will have to pay a demand draft of Rs 250/- in favour of “The secretary, Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training, Chandigarh”

In case of candidate not having proof of income shall pay fees of Rs 14,500 as per the other categories.
Notes
1. Fee shall be collected from the student bi-annually within one month from the commencement of the session/semester in July and January on the dates notified by the Principal.
2. If any fee subscription remains outstanding beyond the dates ,such students will not be allowed to continue attendance in polytechnic college, and will remain suspended till arrears are cleared along with a fine of Rs 1/- per day.
3. Student should preferably deposit fee through Bank draft/banker’s cheques.
4. Punjab govt has decided vide letter No 35/5/94-1/c2/1279 dated 23 Feb 1996 regarding refund of tuition fee .In case the student ,already admitted and seeking inter institutions change, on merit they will be required to pay their fee and other dues in the new institution as a fresh admission case. For refund they will refer separate claims with the respective institution, such candidates will be allowed efund of ee by the the institutions where they were earlier admitted after retaining 10% as service charges.
5. A migrating student shall pay all fees in the polytechnic college to which he joins after migration. He can claim refund of fees from previous college ,
6. The examination of each semester/class shall be conducted by the PSBTE & IT and student will be equired to pay examination fees at the rates fixed by the PSBTE&IT from time to time. These fees shall be paid along with the Examination form .Fee once paid shall not be refunded unless detained under rule of the Examination rules.
